The UKMSA Mentoring Scheme (UMS) is a collaborative effort between the UKMSA and Doctors Net UK (www.doctors.net.uk), the largest and most active network of GMC authenticated doctors in the UK, and the most trusted channel for information, communication and education, used by more than 40,000 doctors every day.
It aims to pair you with SHOs and registrars in fields you’re interested in, allowing you to gain tailored advice on everything from portfolio building to establishing a work-life balance.
Competition for students and doctors is always on the rise. Nowadays, having better portfolios and knowing what you want to do earlier is more important than ever before.
However, getting advice on how to do this can be difficult and although there are websites providing some information on this (including the UKMSAs) they aren’t going to be tailored to your specific needs.
Pairing you with a clinician is also an amazing opportunity for you to get a detailed insight into your specialty of interest; finding out what’s important and what’s not, to simply ask questions that you’d be too intimidated to ask a consultant, and to take you a step closer to being able to pick the job you want, where you want it.
To sign-up simply click on the appropriate link, enter your details in the online form and someone will be in contact shortly.
If you have any further queries please email, please email ums@ukmsa.org.
