The UKMSA Research Collaboration (URC) aims to assist students in getting involved in clinical research, audit and publication. We have founded, and are continuing to develop, a nationwide network of research contacts and interested students. The aim is to bring the two groups together in a more efficient and productive manner than that which currently exists.

The aims of the URC are as follows:

1. To advance the global body of medical knowledge in both research and audit

a. Clinicians often have data and unpublished manuscripts on hold because they do not have enough time to complete them
b. Students have both the time and interest in getting involved but are often unaware how to do so

2. To provide students with a more accessible route into research and audit

a. Match students to to their specialty interests
b. Match them to researchers that are willing to act as longer-term mentors
c. Greater chance of the student publishing and presenting work on a national or even international stage
